The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague Episode 3 English Subbed

This series has a really good grasp of what's fun and what's not. Fuyutsuki's character, that being the kuudere type, do better when they're able to grow to express their emotions, and on the flip side Himuro's typing of deredere do better when they can have impactful but yet subdued emotional responses to stuff. This episode already takes us in that direction and I really love it. They don't try to stretch things out, they're not attempting to drag their heels to get more out of it before moving on with the relationship between Himuro and Fuyutsuki, they're just taking the natural development of the pair and it's so nice to see. It was great to see Himuro take the lead and attempt to thank Fuyutuski for all that she's done, and even attempt to further their relationship in regards to things that Fuyutsuki is apprehensive or hesitant to take charge on. And Fuyutsuki on the other hand is being receptive and engaging with what Himuro is trying to do, she's opening her heart and mind to him and allowing herself to enjoy and cherish the moments that appear because of them.
Really though, who couldn't love both Himuro and Fuyutsuki. Himuro's excitement is just so cute and pure that you can't but smile at him as he kicks his feet in excitement at being in the same department as Fuyutsuki, or when the little snowmen appear at just Fuyutsuki's name. They do a really great job of selling that incredibly energetic and cute side of Himuro, without it getting to be obnoxious or overly repetitive. And then there's Fuyutsuki that's always rather cool and reserved, but her cuteness away from work 100% shows in a very quiet and effortless fashion. She always finds a way to wiggle into the hearts of viewers, and as she opens up there's even more of those moments. Like sneakily having the melted Himuro as her homescreen, but being too embarrassed to have Himuro know so she slams the phone down on the table before he can see.
We're only 3 episodes in, but there's a lot to love about where it's going and what it wants to do. It's leaning very strong into adult romance territory, so I'm hoping to see the pair get together before we get close to the end of the season, given that they had their first "date" in this episode. The approach they're going with overall though is fresh regardless of the end goal, and just plain enjoyable. The concept of descendants of spirits and yokai adds *just* the right amount of spice and creativity to offset some of the potentially bland or boring stuff in an office setting, and the visuals also help a great deal. In the same way that there's that "Shoujo" lens with sparkles and hearts and flowers, I feel like the stuff used in Ice Guy is the Josei version of it. More mature and slightly more subdued, but still incredibly cute and recognizable. Anyways, another really lovely and warm episode!
